Albena is Bulgaria's
most northerly sea resort and lies 6km North of
Golden Sands and 40km North East
of
Varna Airport.
Albena's wide sandy beach is its best
feature, and in the summer water sports, parasols and sun
beds are all available for hire. The beach is patrolled by
lifeguards making this a good resort for families with
children. There is also a bowling alley and toddlers
funfair.
Eating out is limited to mainly hotel restaurants, although
there is a handful of pizzerias and cafes at the beach
promenade. The small Bazaar shopping centre offers a few
souvenir shops and one department store. Better shopping is
available in
Varna. The resort has modern sport facilities that apart
from summer holidaymakers, are used by local and foreign
sportsmen around the year. The complex is rich in tennis
courts, swimming pools, children playgrounds, golf courses,
etc. Places where tourists can rent bikes, cars, sail-boats,
cutters, waterwheels an jets, yachts, or take a horse
ride also abound.
The resort boasts with its well-organized SPA and medical
centres, staffed with highly qualified personnel. The
mineral water springs in the resorts are hypothermic with
temperature of around 300 C and low level of mineralization.
Albena is one of the most expensive places
along the Black Sea coast in terms of accommodation.
The name Golden Sands
comes from an legend: Pirates diged in a huge golden
treasure in the seaside north from
Varna. The land took
revenge on the bandits and transformed the gold into
wonderful sand.
Golden sands is famous with its nice golden
sand and long beaches. The Black Sea
beaches are covered with crystal clear sands. Because of its
natural beauty, Bulgarian Black Sea coast has become famous
international resort area.
The
Golden Sands resort is near the Golden
Sands National Park and 18 kilometers
north of the city of
Varna. It is a
magnificent resort, the largest one on the Northern Black
Sea coast, with richly wooded hills, white golden beach and
clear blue sea. There are lots of famous mineral
water springs, which have a flow of 150 m/sec and were known
already to the Thracians and the Roman Caesars. The resort's
beach strip is 3,5 km. long and up to 100 m wide. The
average air temperature in Summer is 27-30 degrees and the
water temperature is 25-28 degrees. Golden sands suits both
sun-worshippers and sightseers being near by
Varna - the third largest town in
Bulgaria, the
pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast with
a great number of places of interest. The resort has
wonderful conditions for recreation, entertainment, sport
and spa treatment. It is a paradise for children and restful
holiday for parents. It has been awarded the prestigious
Blue Flag international ecology prize several times in the
past years.

Nessebar is situated on a small peninsula and on the land jutted out into the sea. Its beach is considered to be the best along the Black Sea Coast. The big sandy strip is covered with extremely fine and abundant clean golden sand. There are marvelous dunes next to the coast. The churches of Nessebar are 41. Not all of them have preserved their full brilliance but even their present condition strongly impresses tourists. One of the oldest sights is the Basilica situated on the sea-shore, built most probably at the beginning of 5th century. The Old Bishop`s Residence located in the centre of the town, is probably the most imposing one of all churches in Nessebar. more than 25 m long and 22 m wide.

Saints Constantine and Helena is a resort within a landscaped park 10 km north of downtown Varna and 7 km south of Golden Sands. It is served by the Varna International Airport and bus lines of the Varna public transit system.

Sunny Beach is the most southerly of Bulgaria's Black Sea resorts, and lies approximately 90km from Varna airport and 30km from Burgas airport. This is a purpose built resort developed along the coast, consisting of mainly large, modern hotels. Sunny Beach is favored by families with children, terrain is flat and the 8km long beach shelves gently into the sea. Water sports are available at the beach during high season. There is a good range of bars and nightclubs in the resort centre and a reasonable range of good value options for eating out with menus offering both local and international cuisine. A mini-train runs through resort and is well priced and buses are available to nearby Burgas and Nessebar.
