Belogradchik Rocks

The Belogradchik rocks extends approximately 30 kilometers long, 3 to 5 kilometers wide and 200 meters high. The magnificent cliffs surrounding Belogradchik include: Madonna, Rider, monks, student, Lion, Bear, Adam and Eve, The Castle. At 4 kilometers from cities around the cave Lepenitsa has another great rock group where the most impressive piece is Dinosaur. s.Borovitsa Some are Borov stone and stone bee. Forming of the Belogradchik Rocks

The legends about the Belogradchik Rocks
Here every stone has a history and
legend, full of suffering and heroism, to explain the
incredible beauty petrifaction. Centuries ago there were
girls between the rocks monastery. Early each morning
monastery bells for prayer inviting God doomed nuns. The
youngest among them, novice Vitinia, could not hide her
beauty. The rumor about sister Vitinia's beauty spreaded
across the Roman side.
On a St. Peter's day, when people had to visit the
monasteries, the fate met the Roman Antinio and sister
Vitinia. Long they hide their love of nuns. But after a year
the fruit of their love is revealed to light. Kids crying
make the cells of the monastery. Vitinia was faced with
strict court of the monks.
They decided to curse her out of the monastery with the
child. Then from the hill Antonio appeared on his white
horse, beseeching nuns to leave Vitinia. And then the
miracle happened. Suddenly the rocks bent over the storm, a
bolt fell, the earth shook. The monastery was thrown down in
destruction and all around petrified - the Rider, the monks
and Vitinia, which turned into Madonna with Child in her
arms.

Travel by bus:
From Sofia Central Bus
station, buses run every day, the duration of the trip is 4
hours, the most easily and quickly you can reach by bus is
from the city of Vidin, which is 50 kilometers. Regular
buses travel between Vidin and Belogradchik throughout the
day. The duration of the trip is 1 hour. The bus station in
Belogradchik is located right next to the main street.

- Oreshets, trains leave from the Sofia Central Station and
